NCEDC Hires a New Vice President
The Northern Colorado Economic Development Corporation (NCEDC) announces the hire of Michael Masciola as the Vice President of the NCEDC beginning today, July 23, 2007. He will be replacing Jacob Castillo, who has been with the organization since February of 2003.
Castillo is leaving the NCEDC to pursue an MSBA in Global Social and Sustainable Enterprise and an MS in Agricultural and Resource Economics at Colorado State University. “While it was a difficult decision to make, the timing is right for me and my wife to make this transition. This move will allow me to explore my interest in international economic development with a focus on agricultural and environmental health and social justice” said Castillo.
Castillo went on to say, “I thoroughly enjoyed my tenure at the NCEDC and believe the NCEDC will continue to positively impact the economy of Northern Colorado.”
Masciola’s primary responsibility will be strategic business attraction of quality primary employers. He will focus on outward marketing to site consultants and primary employers while providing leadership for the targeted industry cluster initiatives in Northern Colorado. He will also support the regional Business Retention and Expansion program which is focused on keeping existing employers in Northern Colorado and helping them grow.
Masciola brings nearly fifteen years of economic development experience to the NCEDC, including past work with the Denver International Airport Business Partnership and the Colorado Springs Office of Economic Development. Most recently Masciola has served as the Director of Business Development & Marketing for the DuPage Airport Authority in Chicago, IL.
Masciola received his BS in Regional Planning from Westfield State College, graduate training in Urban Planning & Economic Development from the University of Virginia, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Colorado.
“I am thrilled to be back in Colorado and to have the opportunity to work in Larimer County. The region offers a strong value proposition for businesses and creative talent. I look forward to hitting the ground running with the NCEDC” said Masciola.
Maury Dobbie, President & CEO of the NCEDC, said “We will miss Jacob; he has done a great job for this organization over the past four years and has made a lasting impact on Northern Colorado. That said we are extremely pleased to have Mike on board. His experience and expertise in economic development will allow us to continue pushing forward on our strategic initiatives. We intend for this to be a seamless transition and an exciting new chapter for the NCEDC.”
